What a vanilla pen device really costs in Bristol
The honest read on vanilla: 6 units through the same routine over 3 weeks, and the difference between a good batch and a bad one came down to batch age, not the sticker price.
How we tested vanilla in a pen device
- Pick the pen device that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- Choose strength against the ceiling in the UK, which is 20 mg/mL for retail here.
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Coil type inside the pen device, because mesh and wire age at different rates.
- Batch code and production date, so a vanilla bottle turned in 3 weeks ago is not sold as new.
- Stock depth: 6 lines held, so the shortlist does not turn into a special order.
- Child-resistant cap and tamper band on every vanilla bottle shipped into Bristol.
Where vanilla goes wrong
- Treating the advertised £66 entry kit as the real cost when refills run £3.47 per 10 ml.
- Skipping the spare coil, which is the single part that decides how long vanilla in Bristol survives.
- Matching strength to the device instead of the draw, which is why vanilla tastes flat after two days.
